In this curriculum, particular attention is given to postural alignment and the student’s developing anatomy. Proper technique and musicality are emphasized, while still allowing time for natural movement and self-expression.
Gayton Hip-Hop Classes are very popular and are high energy classes. Styles range from the most current and creative choreography, street funk, classic pop-and-lock, whacking, old school dance moves from the inception of hip hop, and lyrical/R&B vibe. Come learn the latest moves from our highly trained and professional group of instructors.
Jazz classes are an excellent experience for the student who is interested in further strengthening their dance technique. The students will learn a variety of jumps and turns as well as innovative choreography in this athletic class. The class consists of warm up and conditioning exercises to increase flexibility and strength. Class time will be devoted to learning jazz technique as well as fierce cutting edge dance combinations.
Contemporary dance is a compilation of different styles of dance, including lyrical, classical ballet, jazz and modern dance. The dancer is taught to interpret his or her movement with feeling, motion and style. Classes offered are for the intermediate/advanced student. A Ballet or Jazz class is recommended along with lyrical/contemporary to properly build technique.
Students are taught rhythms, timing, and leg/foot coordination done to various types of music. Studying the art of tap dancing encourages musicality development of all dancers. Students will receive well-rounded knowledge of all types of tap.
An introduction to dance for our youngest dancers. This class is for ages 3-4 years old and is a 45 min. class. They will get a tap, ballet and jazz combination! These classes are structured to stimulate coordination skills, listening skills, balance, music interpretation, creative movement and an excellent introduction to the world of dance.
Adult Fitness Dance Class are fun and challenging using a combination of beginner to intermediate dance moves. Instruction is largely focused around using body weight and slow tight movements to tone and tighten area, legs, abdomen and chest. Come get toned, meet some new people and listen to great music!
Poms Prep Class
A high-intensity jazz/poms class with a focus on choreography, technique, and performance styles. Choreography integrates the use of poms and props. This is a great class for future pom hopefuls. Get prepared for auditions NOW!
